Chase A. Burke Benefit Aug 8
When: Sunday August 8, 2010
Time: 11:00am – 7:30pm
Where: Firefighters / Postal Lake Club
920 W Lake Shore Dr. Springfield, IL 62712, (217) 529-3170
Food and entertainment $10
Resulting from the discovery of a bone tumor in his bottom right jaw (then 2 years old), Chase Andrew Burke was diagnosed with Histiocytosis in April of 2009. It quickly went from a Doctor’s visit for a swollen jaw on Tuesday to performing Biopsy surgery the following Wednesday. Doctors were able to remove the entire Tumor during the Biopsy; however, the results of a CAT Scan in July 2009 indicated that the Tumor was back. That led to the implant of a PowerPort in his chest (3 years old) so he could begin a regimen of Chemotherapy, steroids, and Bactrim (to prevent pneumocystis pneumonia). He is still undergoing treatment today. Chase's Pediatric Oncologist is expecting more recurrences during his childhood.
